Freedom to breathe, and yes! - to eat!

Many thanks to Dr. Thomason of the Radiology Department at Greenville Memorial...the man has made my life a hundred times more bearable. I saw him today for a paracentesis to draw off fluid from my abdomen, and he was able to remove 2.25 liters (4.67 lbs). My stomach was flat! I could zip and fasten my pants! I could breathe!

The first thing I did was to head for food. I got a big tuna and spinach salad and proceeded to chow down. David said to me after I had wolfed down a few bites, "You are not planning to eat that whole thing are you?" I looked at him, salad dressing running down my chin (not really, but don't you love the image?). "What - you're saying you don't think I should?"

I knew he was right...I restricted myself to half, saving the other half for dinner, just in case my stomach was not quite ready for primetime. But I'm feeling fine, and planning to eat again - soon! I have visions of whole meals - all four food groups plus wine - dancing in my head. There is a sense of urgency now that I know the fluid may reaccumulate, so look out world, don't get between me and food!!
